What Could You Do More Of?
At 69, I’ve learned that the days really do go faster than you think, and the things you do—or don’t do—add up in ways you don’t notice at first. So when I ask myself, “What could I do more of?”, the answer is almost always the same: the things that make life better, simpler, and more meaningful.
Even though I spend a great deal of time with my seven grandchildren, I know I could do more to build deeper connections with them. Not by lecturing or telling them what they should or should not do, but by guiding, teaching, and sharing wisdom in ways only a grandparent can—through fun, stories, and experiences that help them discover happiness for themselves.
I could also spend more time walking outside, feeling the sun rise and set, noticing the small details in the world—the way a stream catches the morning light, the sound of leaves in the wind. I could write, reflect, and connect with family and friends just to say “I’m thinking of you.” I could smile and say hi to anyone I make eye contact with, making more eye contact and small connections with people I meet every day. I could pay more attention to my health, staying disciplined with fasting, exercise, and the supplements that give me energy and clarity.
It’s simple things that matter most. Today, I challenge myself—and anyone reading this—to ask honestly: What could you do more of? Chances are, it’s exactly the thing that will make your life richer, brighter, and fuller.
