“Nothing is new to this world when it comes to human behavior”
Yesterday, one of my blogs about helping a woman in a parking lot went viral. And no, it wasn’t because of fancy SEO tricks, clickbait headlines, or hashtags—it was because it was a real story.
The truth is, the best blogs don’t come from made-up ideas. They come from life. From those everyday moments that sneak up on you, tug on your heart, and leave you thinking long after the moment has passed.
Here’s what I’ve learned about writing blogs that connect with people:
1. Start with a real story.
Readers can smell fake a mile away. A true story—whether it’s about helping a stranger, making a mistake, or just remembering childhood—carries a weight that fiction can’t match. People want to feel like they’re sitting across from you at the kitchen table, hearing something real.
2. Show your heart.
The stories that travel far are the ones that show your humanity. If your post makes someone laugh, cry, or nod their head in recognition, you’ve done your job. Don’t just tell what happened—share how it made you feel.
3. Remember: nothing is new to this world when it comes to human behavior.
It has all happened before. Heartbreak, kindness, jealousy, forgiveness, hope—it’s all part of the human condition. What makes your story powerful is not that it’s brand-new, but that it’s yours. When you share it honestly, readers recognize themselves in it, and that’s where the connection happens.
4. Leave readers better than you found them.
The best blogs give something back. They leave the reader hopeful, encouraged, or even just a little wiser. Maybe they walk away thinking about kindness, faith, family, or perseverance. Maybe they walk away simply smiling.
5. Keep it simple.
You don’t need perfect grammar or polished prose—just honesty. People connect with sincerity more than they connect with “perfect.”
At the end of the day, the blogs that last are the ones that come from the heart. Real stories, told honestly, have a way of reaching out through the screen and grabbing someone right where they are.
That’s what happened yesterday. A simple story about helping a stranger resonated with thousands. And that’s the magic of writing from the heart—you never know whose life you’ll touch.
