Daily writing prompt
What is your favorite animal?

“What is your favorite animal?”

That’s today’s WordPress writing prompt. And respectfully, this is exactly why I keep asking WordPress to raise the bar just a little.

There’s nothing wrong with light, fun questions now and then. But prompts like this don’t inspire stories, insight, or meaning. They don’t pull memories out of us. They don’t make us think, reflect, or share something that actually connects with other people. Most answers end up being one word long and forgotten five seconds later.

A good writing prompt should invite a story. It should open a door. It should make you pause and say, “Yeah… I’ve got something to say about that.”

Questions about purpose, failure, change, regret, lessons learned, moments that shaped us, beliefs that were challenged, or paths we didn’t take—that’s where real writing starts. That’s where voices come through. That’s what keeps people reading.

So if you agree, give this a like 👍
Not because you dislike animals—but because you believe writers deserve prompts that actually help them write something meaningful.
