Do You Need Time?

“Time doesn’t owe me another minute. It’s already given me memories that will outlive the clock.”

Do I need time? No — I’ve already lived through the good times.

I don’t say that with regret. I say it with gratitude. Time has already given me its best: lessons, laughter, heartaches, and a front-row seat to a world that once lived by a different rhythm.

There was a time when if you shoplifted, everyone thought it was wrong.
There was a time when using illegal drugs, everyone thought it was wrong.
There was a time when people said “please” and “thank you,” and they meant it.
There was a time when neighbors looked out for each other instead of filming them.
There was a time when Sunday morning meant church, not errands.
There was a time when both parents raised the children, and the dinner table was sacred.
There was a time when people worked hard, stood proud, and believed a man’s word was his bond.

There was a time when most protests were peaceful and driven by principle — not chaos or outside influence.
There was a time when people were ashamed to take handouts because pride meant something.
There was a time when truth mattered more than feelings, and courage was measured by duty, not followers.
There was a time when most men would have died for their country — and many did.
There was a time when pride was found in hard work, not in appearances.
There was a time when people didn’t need to record every good deed — they just did it.

Do I need time? I’ve had enough to see how much the world has changed — and enough to remember what’s worth holding on to.

I don’t think the good times are gone forever. They’re just harder to recognize now — buried beneath noise, speed, and distraction. But they still exist. They live in small kindnesses, in quiet honesty, and in the people who still keep their word when no one’s watching.

I don’t need more time to see what’s right and wrong. I just need enough to remind others what once mattered — and still should.
