What Podcasts Am I Listening To?
Ah yes — today’s prompt: “What podcasts are you listening to?”
A harmless little question on the surface… or is it?
I see what’s going on here. This isn’t a question — it’s a personality test wrapped in a social landmine.
Let’s be honest — your answer tells people everything. Say “The Daily” and you’re labeled one thing. Say “Joe Rogan” and half your followers start packing their digital bags. Mention “Ben Shapiro” or “Rachel Maddow” and boom — you’ve declared political war before breakfast.
So, I choose peace. music, health or motavation.
These days, I mostly listen to “The Sound of Silence” hosted by my coffee mug. It’s deep, reflective, and the only show where the guest never interrupts. I also enjoy “The Refrigerator Hum Podcast” — great consistency, though a bit monotone. I write, I don’t listen.
Every morning during my walk, I catch “Conversations With Myself About Everything and Nothing” — riveting stuff. It’s commercial-free and available exclusively inside my head. Sometimes I binge “Breaking News: My Neighbor’s Lawn Care Schedule.” The suspense is unbearable.
I used to listen to motivational podcasts, but after the tenth episode told me to “get up and chase my dreams,” I realized my dream was sitting down.
And don’t even get me started on true crime podcasts — I live in Pennsylvania; the local news is enough mystery for one lifetime.
So, what do I listen to? Mostly silence, sarcasm, and the occasional voice in my head reminding me to turn off the stove.
Because here’s the truth: podcasts are like bumper stickers for your brain — they say a lot about you, sometimes more than you meant to share.
So I’ll just keep my earbuds empty, thank you very much. In this world of over-sharers, the quiet ones might be the last ones still thinking for themselves.
