No Degree . no success

Daily writing prompt
What’s something you used to believe as a kid that seems ridiculous now?

What’s something I used to believe as a kid that seems ridiculous now?

That I wouldn’t do well in life without a college degree.

I grew up believing that if you didn’t have a diploma hanging on the wall, your opportunities would be limited and success would belong to someone else.

Well, life had other plans.

I never earned a college degree, yet I built a career I was proud of, raised a wonderful family, started businesses, invested in real estate, and created a life that has blessed me beyond anything I could have imagined as a young man.

What I eventually learned is that there are many roads to success. A degree can be valuable, but it isn’t the only path. Hard work, curiosity, treating people right, being willing to take risks, and never stopping learning can take you a very long way.

Some people have a college education. Others have a life education.

I happened to get mine the hard way—one job, one mistake, and one opportunity at a time.
