If there is one conspiracy theory I have never been able to completely dismiss, it is the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

I am not saying I know who was behind it, and I am not convinced by every wild theory that has been floated over the last 60 years. But I have always had a hard time believing that Lee Harvey Oswald, acting completely alone, was the whole story.

There are simply too many strange pieces. Oswald’s background and contacts, the questions surrounding the shots, conflicting eyewitness accounts, and then Jack Ruby walking into a police station and killing Oswald before he could ever stand trial. What are the odds of that?

Then came the Warren Commission, which gave the country a relatively neat answer to an incredibly messy event. Maybe they got it right. But considering the Cold War, the CIA, Cuba, organized crime, and all the powerful interests surrounding Kennedy at the time, I think it is reasonable to wonder whether the government knew more than it ever told the American people.

I don’t buy every JFK conspiracy theory. Some are downright crazy. But do I believe there is a possibility that Oswald wasn’t simply one disturbed guy who woke up one morning and decided on his own to kill the President?

Absolutely.

Maybe someday we’ll know the complete story. But more than 60 years later, JFK is one conspiracy theory where I still think there may be a lot more to the story than we were told.
