What’s One Thing I Know Now That Would Have Saved My Younger Self a Lot of Pain?

Simple. You don’t have to do everything yourself, prove everybody wrong, or work yourself half to death to be successful.

I spent a good part of my younger years working like a dog, worrying about things I couldn’t control, and thinking that if I just worked a little harder, everything would fall into place.

Well, everything eventually did fall into place. Unfortunately, a few parts of my body fell out of place along the way.

Here’s what I’ve learned.

Most of the things I worried about never happened. Half the people I tried to impress weren’t worth impressing. And some of the people I argued with weren’t smart enough to know they were wrong in the first place.

I also learned that money buys freedom, not happiness. Although I’ll admit, being miserable with money beats being miserable without it.

And here’s the biggest lesson: Take care of your body when you’re young. You’re going to need that same equipment when you’re old, and apparently replacement parts aren’t covered under the original warranty.

Would I change my life? Not much. I’ve had a hell of a ride.

But if I could sit down with my 25-year-old self, I’d tell him three things.

Work smarter, stop worrying about what everybody thinks, and for God’s sake, take better care of your back.

Oh, and one more thing. When your wife tells you you’re wrong, save yourself 45 minutes and just agree with her. You’re going to end up there anyway.
