If the Salary Were the Same, What Job Would You Be Doing Right Now—and Why?
Honestly, I wouldn’t be doing any job.
I never hated working. I hated having a job—reporting to someone else, following somebody else’s schedule, sitting through pointless meetings, and having another person decide what my time was worth.
That is why I worked hard, saved, invested, bought property, and built businesses on the side. I wanted control of my own life, and I was fortunate enough to retire from the corporate world at 48.
If I absolutely had to choose something, I would probably buy and sell antiques and unusual merchandise. I have always enjoyed the hunt, researching what I found, negotiating the deal, and turning something overlooked into money. But I would still want to do it on my terms, when I felt like doing it.
To me, the greatest benefit of making money was never buying more stuff. It was eventually being able to buy back my own time.
